This Data Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use Claper.co and app.claper.co, operated by OpenPrisma EURL, 66 Avenue des Champs-Elysees, 75008 Paris, France.
What We Collect
Account Data
When you create a Claper account, we collect:
- Email address
- Name (if provided)
- Password (stored hashed, never in plain text)
Event Data
When you use Claper to create or participate in events, we process:
- Presentation files (PDF, PPT) uploaded by presenters
- Poll questions, responses, and results
- Q&A messages and reactions
- Quiz questions, answers, and scores
- Form submissions
- Chat messages
Technical Data
We automatically collect limited technical data:
- IP address (for security and abuse prevention)
- Browser type and version
- Device type
- Pages visited and actions taken
Analytics and Marketing Data
We use the following analytics and marketing tools:
- OpenPrisma Analytics: Privacy-focused, cookieless website analytics. No personal data is collected. All data is aggregated.
- Microsoft Clarity (consent-required): Session recordings and heatmaps to improve UX. Only enabled with your explicit consent.
- Sentry: Error monitoring and performance tracking to identify and fix bugs. May collect technical data such as IP address, browser, and device information when errors occur.
- Reddit Pixel (consent-required): Conversion tracking for advertising campaigns. Only enabled with your explicit consent.
- Facebook Pixel (consent-required): Conversion tracking for advertising campaigns. Only enabled with your explicit consent.
How We Use Your Data
- Service delivery: To provide, operate, and maintain the Claper platform
- Improvement: To understand usage patterns and improve the platform
- Support: To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
- Security: To detect, prevent, and address security issues and abuse
- Marketing: To measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns (only with your consent)
- Legal compliance: To comply with applicable laws and regulations
Data Storage and Location
All primary data is stored and processed within the European Union on Hetzner Cloud infrastructure (Germany/Finland). Some third-party processors may process data outside the EU with appropriate safeguards in place (see Subprocessors).
Data Retention
- Account data: Retained as long as your account is active. Deleted upon account deletion request.
- Event data: Retained as long as the event exists in your account. You can delete events and their associated data at any time.
- Technical logs: Retained for a maximum of 90 days, then automatically purged.
- Analytics data: Aggregated and anonymized. No personal data is retained by OpenPrisma Analytics.
- Error tracking data: Sentry retains error data for 90 days.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We only share data with third-party processors as strictly necessary to operate the service. See our Subprocessors page for a complete list.
Audience Participant Data
Participants who join Claper events may interact without creating an account. In this case:
- Participant interactions (messages, poll responses, quiz answers) are associated with the event, not with a persistent identity
- No participant cookies are set beyond what is necessary for the session
- Event organizers can view and export interaction data from their events
- Interaction data is deleted when the event is deleted by the organizer
Self-Hosted Instances
If you use a self-hosted instance of Claper, you are the data controller for all data processed by your instance. This Data Policy applies only to Claper.co and app.claper.co, the official cloud service.
Your Rights Under GDPR
As a resident of the European Economic Area, you have the following rights:
- Right of access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Right of rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Right of erasure: Request deletion of your personal data
- Right to data portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Right to object: Object to the processing of your personal data
- Right to restriction: Request restriction of processing of your personal data
- Right to withdraw consent: Withdraw consent at any time for consent-based processing
